Nigerian Navy Pledges Enhanced Security in Imo State

The Nigerian Navy has committed to deploying more personnel and resources to address security challenges in Imo State, particularly in sensitive sea routes. Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff, conveyed this assurance during a visit to Governor Hope Uzodimma. Vice Admiral Ogalla’s visit aimed to bolster cooperation between the Navy and the state government to ensure security and stability in the region.

Governor Uzodimma expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing an Igbo professional, Vice Admiral Ogalla, as Chief of Naval Staff. The governor acknowledged the significance of this appointment for the Southeast and praised President Tinubu for his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises across Nigeria.

The governor emphasized that Imo State seeks peace and security to support the endeavors of its hardworking citizens. He assured Vice Admiral Ogalla of the state’s unwavering support and partnership in terms of logistics and manpower.

Vice Admiral Ogalla commended the collaboration between the Navy and Imo State, highlighting their joint efforts in enhancing maritime security. He informed the governor about the readiness of a hydrographic survey project and expressed gratitude for the state’s contributions to various Navy initiatives. He also discussed plans for housing schemes for retiring naval officers and requested community support in information-sharing to combat criminal activities.

The Chief of Naval Staff’s visit strengthens the relationship between the Navy and the state, signaling a united front in tackling security challenges in the region, particularly along maritime routes.
