The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has accused the federal government of making life unbearable for Nigerians through heavy taxes, tariff hikes, and broken promises. He said the government is more concerned about corporate interests than the well-being of ordinary citizens.

Speaking at a labour conference in Lagos, Ajaero warned that Nigerians and the union would no longer remain silent. He criticized the government for failing to implement the minimum wage properly while reducing the salaries of federal workers. According to him, these actions are a betrayal of trust, and the people must resist economic oppression.
Ajaero urged Nigerian workers to stay united and fight for their rights. He assured them that the NLC would continue to oppose policies that harm workers and the general public. He also praised the outgoing leadership of the Maritime Workers Union and encouraged the new leaders to keep pushing for better wages and working conditions.
