The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has summoned an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting following the Wednesday night invasion of its headquarters in Abuja, known as Labour House. Heavily armed policemen reportedly ransacked offices on the Second and 10th floors, confiscating materials they claimed were used to incite recent protests.
The NEC meeting, set for 4 pm tomorrow, will be held virtually to discuss an appropriate response to the invasion.
The Labour Writers Association of Nigeria (LAWAN) has condemned the action, calling it a violation of fundamental human rights and a threat to democracy. They urged Nigerians to unite in defending the country’s democratic values.
