The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) announced on Wednesday that Nigeria is set to become a net exporter of petroleum products in 2024. The Group Managing Director of NNPCL, Mele Kyari, conveyed this information during a visit to the Senate President and other senators. Kyari assured that a robust supply plan for petroleum products is in place until the next year, alleviating concerns about fuel shortages.
He mentioned that the NNPC, occupying over 30% of the downstream business, anticipates no fuel queues. Kyari also discussed the challenge of crude oil theft, highlighting the impact of vandals on the company. Additionally, he mentioned that the Port Harcourt refinery is expected to commence operations in December, coinciding with new refinery initiatives.
