The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has invited former President Olusegun Obasanjo to visit the Port Harcourt Refinery and assess its operational status firsthand. This follows Obasanjo’s comments in a Channels Television interview, where he expressed doubts about the refinery’s efficiency, citing concerns raised by Shell Petroleum Development Company.
NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, emphasized the company’s commitment to transparency, inviting Obasanjo to observe the progress made during the refinery’s comprehensive rehabilitation. Soneye highlighted similar ongoing upgrades at Warri and Kaduna refineries, aimed at meeting global standards and enhancing Nigeria’s energy security.
Responding to rumors about halting crude oil supply to the Dangote Refinery, Soneye dismissed them as baseless. He assured Nigerians that NNPCL remains focused on its transformation efforts, emphasizing profitability and global competitiveness in its operations.
