One faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) led by Major Agbo has announced plans to investigate the presidential candidate of the party, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, and some of his loyalists over an alleged misappropriation of over N1 billion generated from the sale of nomination forms. The faction also accused Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the NNPP, of favoring and imposing certain party candidates ahead of other aspirants.
In response, the Kwankwaso camp dismissed the allegations as frivolous and questioned why they were only raised after the factional leaders were expelled from the party. The National Auditor of NNPP, Ladipo Johnson, defended Kwankwaso, stating that he is neither an official of the party nor an accounting officer and therefore could not be responsible for selling forms or managing party funds.
The NNPP has been embroiled in internal conflicts and factionalism, with different groups making various claims and allegations against one another. These conflicts could potentially affect the party’s stability and unity as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
