The North East Governors Forum (NEGF) has announced its commitment to enhancing small-scale irrigation farming to address the challenges posed by climate change in the region. Governor Babagana Zulum, the Chairman of the forum, emphasized the importance of agriculture in the region’s economy and livelihood. He stressed the need to engage critical stakeholders for an industrial development program that would tap into local resources.
Governor Zulum also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his efforts in promoting peace and security in the region and the country as a whole. The North East region faces various challenges, including the protection of lives and property, poverty, and unemployment. Governor Zulum urged a collective commitment to creating wealth, expanding income sources, and addressing unemployment, particularly by engaging the youth.
The host Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, highlighted the forum’s achievements in fostering sustainable development over the past four years. The NEGF aims to collaborate on initiatives that contribute to the region’s economic growth and address pressing challenges.
