The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspects in connection with robbery, theft, and the vandalization of armored cables and batteries belonging to the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO). The command stated that three other suspects involved in the incident are currently at large.

The arrest was made by officers of the Anti-Vandalism Unit of the NSCDC at KEDCO’s distribution substation located at Briscoe Independence Road, Nassarawa Local Government Area, Kano. The suspects were apprehended after officers responded to a midnight distress call about the ongoing incident.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Anas Shamsu, 26, and Nasiru Muhammad, 25. They are currently in the custody of the NSCDC and will undergo investigation before being charged to court. The incident had resulted in a power blackout in several communities in Kano.

The NSCDC’s swift response and the arrest of the suspects are expected to help restore power supply to the affected areas and curb vandalism in the region.
