A nurse from Enugu State named Juliet claims that a suspected Lagos-based gang scammed her of N650,000 by promising her and several other people jobs at Shell Petroleum Development Company.
gathered that Juliet was at first asked to pay the sum N750,000 by the syndicate, who disguised itself as recruitment officers and operated in the Igando area of Lagos State.
The Igando Division of the state Police Command said, acting on intelligence, it raided the syndicate’s hideout and arrested 19 suspects at their operating base in the area.

Speaking at the station on Monday, Juliet said, “I am a nurse and I came all the way from Enugu. My friend introduced me to the company. I have paid N650,000 out the N750,000 they asked for.”
Juliet stated, “I am a nurse, and I traveled all the way from Enugu,” when speaking at the station on Monday. I was introduced to the business by a friend. I have given them N650,000 instead of the N750,000 they requested.
The victim claims that after receiving an invitation from Enugu, she was housed in a room with eight other women who were also looking for work and promised they would go through training before gaining the jobs.
Taofeek Ibrahim, a different eyewitness to the arrest in the area, told reporters that the individuals were enticing victims from neighboring nations and other states.
“They would claim to assist them in finding work at large corporations like Shell in Lagos, paying N300,000 per month. Some of them came in Ghana. Furthermore, one of them has paid N300,000.
According to Ibrahim, “the female nurse came to her senses after realizing that those who promised them jobs were looking tattered,” and “the police recently raided their hideout at John Kay Crescent, Lanre Bus-stop, Igando.”
