NYSC Denies Claims of ₦70,000 Minimum Wage for Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed circulating social media claims that it instructed corps members to upgrade their bank accounts in preparation for receiving a new ₦70,000 minimum wage.

Rumors suggested that corps members were advised to modify their accounts, supposedly categorized as Student Accounts, to handle the increased wage. However, the NYSC has strongly refuted these claims, stating that no such directive has been issued.

In a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, the NYSC clarified that it has not received any official instructions regarding a ₦70,000 minimum wage or any related account upgrades. The organization urged corps members and the public to disregard the misleading information, emphasizing that communication on such matters will only come through approved channels.

Megwa also cautioned bloggers and social media influencers against spreading unauthorized statements concerning the NYSC, urging them to refrain from misleading the public.
