OAP Do2dtun Faces Legal Restraint Over D’banj Defamation Claims

Renowned Nigerian OAP Kayode Oladotun, popularly known as Do2dtun, has received a court order from a Chief District Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, part of the Federal Capital Territory. The order restrains him from making slanderous statements about musician Oladapo Oyebanjo, also known as D’banj, either on social media or any other platform.

The court has also directed the Deputy Inspector of Police from the Force Intelligence Bureau to investigate a criminal complaint filed by D’banj against Do2dtun. A report on this investigation is to be provided to the court within two weeks.

Justice Emmanuel Iyanna granted this injunction on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in a matter identified as Motion No.: MN/218/2023. A certified accurate copy of the ruling was obtained by a reporter from FINDWHOSABI.

According to the FINDWHOSABI report, D’banj sought the injunction to prevent Do2dtun from sharing what he believed were malicious and defamatory statements about him on social media. This application was submitted by one of D’banj’s legal representatives, Toheeb Lawal, from the Abuja-based Law Corridor legal firm.

In granting the application, with D’banj as the complainant and Do2dtun as the respondent, Justice Iyanna issued “an order restraining the defendant (Do2dtun) either by himself, servants, privies, cohorts, representatives or any person deriving authority from him from further making any malicious, intimidating or defamatory post directing at the complainant (D’banj) on any social media platform (X, Instagram, etc) or news media pending the hearing and determination of the substantive case”.

Furthermore, the court mandated the Deputy Inspector of Police from the Force Intelligence Bureau to investigate the criminal complaint filed by D’banj against Do2dtun and to furnish a report to the court within two weeks.

It is worth noting that Do2dtun has been involved in a public dispute with the musician, with allegations stemming from D’banj’s former marriage and access to his children.
