Obi Wins 2023 Presidential Election, Ex-SGF Lawal Claims

Former Secretary to the Federal Government, Babachir Lawal, has made a strong statement regarding the outcome of the February 25 presidential election in Nigeria. He claimed that the candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, not Bola Tinubu, emerged as the true winner of the election, despite the Independent National Electoral Commission and the presidential election petition tribunal confirming Tinubu’s victory.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Lawal asserted that data from independent sources indicated that Peter Obi had the majority of votes, with Atiku Abubakar coming second in the election. He further stated that Bola Tinubu lagged behind in the number of votes received.

Lawal also called for Bola Tinubu’s resignation, citing concerns about his qualifications and the ongoing revelations about his biodata. He argued that Tinubu should voluntarily withdraw from participating in the election, given the growing negative information about him.

Lawal emphasized the importance of leadership qualities, including integrity, trustworthiness, and the ability to unite and inspire confidence in the people one aims to lead, suggesting that Tinubu fell short in these aspects.

Furthermore, Lawal criticized the political appointments made by Tinubu, asserting that they did not reflect competence or care for the well-being of Nigerians. He raised concerns about rising fuel prices, a declining Naira, and escalating insecurity, while government officials appeared indifferent to the struggles of the Nigerian population.

The statement by Babachir Lawal highlights a significant political development and raises questions about the credibility and conduct of the presidential election in Nigeria.
