Ogun Governor Vows 2024 Infrastructure Boost

In his New Year broadcast, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, assured the residents of the state that they would witness unparalleled infrastructure development in 2024. The governor delivered this promise during a speech in Abeokuta, urging the people to approach the new year with renewed hope as his administration works tirelessly to enhance their lives.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by many Nigerians in 2023 due to the precarious economic situation in the country, Governor Abiodun commended the resilience of the people. He emphasized that despite the adversities, his administration is committed to redoubling efforts to meet the needs of the residents with sincerity, humility, and integrity.

The governor pledged to govern with unwavering dedication, emphasizing equity, inclusiveness, and accountability while upholding the rule of law. Reflecting on the past year, he expressed gratitude to the citizens for their steadfastness and focus in overcoming challenges.

Governor Abiodun highlighted the administration’s focus on infrastructure development, particularly in the transportation sector. Over 500 kilometers of roads have been constructed or rehabilitated across the state, ensuring improved transportation and connectivity. He also mentioned the multi-modal transport master plan, covering land, air, water, and rail modes of transportation.

Providing a glimpse into the future, Governor Abiodun shared updates on the Gateway Agro-Cargo airport project, set to commence passenger and cargo operations in the first quarter of 2024. He emphasized the airport’s potential to create over 25,000 job opportunities, positioning it as a world-class facility and economic enabler.

Having signed the 2024 Budget named ‘Budget of Sustained Growth and Development’ into law, Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the well-being, welfare, development, and prosperity of the state. He called for continued support and prayers from the people, assuring them that his government would fulfill all promises made during the campaign and electioneering leading up to the 2023 general elections.
