Renowned artist Alexander Abolore Akande, popularly identified as 9ice, has been granted an honorary chieftaincy title in Ogun State. 9ice shared the joyous news on his Instagram, displaying images where he was adorned with a regal cap by the Oba, expressing gratitude. Another post showcased the singer receiving the official certificate commemorating the event.
In his caption, 9ice expressed his thanks to HRM Oba Moruf Awode and the entire Gusanu family, as well as the people of Ijofin Kingdom in Yewa, Ogun State. His new title, “Aare Amuludun Ijofin Kingdom,” appropriately designates him as the chief entertainer of Ijofin Kingdom.
This title aligns seamlessly with 9ice’s identity as a musician. Fans and well-wishers flooded him with congratulations and traditional greetings, acknowledging his new role.
This recognition in Ogun State follows a trend, as in 2022, Nigerian singer Portable received a chieftaincy title, becoming the Amuludun of Tigbo Awori Land. In a similar vein, Big Brother Naija star Teddy A was conferred with the title of Asojuomo of Iyere Owo in Owo, Ondo State, back in 2018.
