Abiodun Alamutu, the state’s commissioner of police (CP), revealed this yesterday while speaking to reporters in Abeokuta about the important accomplishments made in their efforts to battle crime head-on and address illegal activities in the state.

He remarked on the striking decrease in criminal activity over the previous three months, with the exception of the recent cult-related crisis and murder in Sagamu, where the police are now closing in on the suspects.

The CP promised Ogun State’s residents that the Command will remain uninhabitable for all criminal groups, particularly cults and land speculators. “The command, in collaboration with other security agencies, have made tremendous progress since our last briefing on July 11,” he stated.

“We’ve successfully taken down 124 suspects for a variety of offenses. Furthermore, we have learned through reliable intelligence that they were ambushed in their hideouts and that their operational weapons were taken.

We similarly found a good amount of displays. Area Commander Sagamu received a distress call from Majestic Royal establishment on October 6 at around 1:00 a.m., reporting that the establishment was the suspected target of armed robbers.

Teams of police officers arrived at the crime scene and engaged the robbers in a gunfight. Superior police fire fatally wounded two of the armed thieves. Elijah Peter Iliasu,’m’ 27, was taken into custody after suffering gunshot wounds.

“During questioning, he admitted to the crime of armed robbery and said that everyone who took part traveled to Ibadan in Oyo State to commit the crime.

“Action is being taken to catch additional evading suspects. Recovered items included a Toyota Venza automobile, two locally produced double barrel weapons, six live bullets, 18 spent bullet shells, a large pair of scissors, 17 android phones (belonging to the lodgers), a Java phone, several ATM cards from various banks, and three suitcases. A case is currently being investigated.

Alamutu vowed to pursue crime tenaciously until it was eradicated. The window of renunciation, he asserted, was still open to anyone prepared to give up their involvement in various cults and other forms of criminality.

He continued, “My advice to parents and guardians is to sensitize their wards to avoid crime and criminal tendencies.
