Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Igbo socio-cultural group, has expressed full support for President Bola Tinubu’s proposed tax reforms, stating they align with the interests of the Igbo nation. In a statement by Secretary General Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the group highlighted that the reforms would revitalize Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), improve workers’ welfare, and end double taxation.
Ohanaeze noted that the reforms would foster a fair business environment, boosting both local and foreign investments. The group emphasized that the Igbo, known for their entrepreneurial spirit, stand to benefit significantly from these changes, which could enhance their contributions to Nigeria’s economy.
Addressing opposition to the reforms, particularly from the Northern region, Ohanaeze suggested that some are concerned about losing illicit advantages. Despite this, the group reiterated its unwavering support, viewing the reforms as a pathway to economic empowerment and national progress.
