Ondo State’s Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has announced that he will run for the state’s top office in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
This was said by Aiyedatiwa on Friday during an appearance on TVC news, just after Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s bones were interred.
Remember that on December 27, 2023, Mr. Aiyedatiwa took the oath of office as the state’s governor in place of Akeredolu, who passed away after a protracted illness?
In tears, the former governor’s remains were buried on Friday at his rural Owo home in Ondo state’s Owo council area.
After the funeral, Aiyedatiwa said that he would run for governor on November 16th, arguing that no one would wish to hold the office for just a single year.
“I will be running,” he declared. As the current governor, allow me to state this: no one wants to serve as governor for just a single year. Give me what my rights under the constitution allow.
“Let me at least get another opportunity to run once more.”
