The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and Ondo State Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, has taken an early lead in the governorship election, securing victories in 13 local government areas so far, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Notably, Ayedatiwa won in Idanre Local Government, the stronghold of the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) running mate, Mr. Festus Akingbaso. This victory marked a significant political upset, with APC scoring 9,114 votes to PDP’s 8,940.
The collation exercise, presided over by Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, is set to continue at 5 a.m., with results from the remaining five local government areas expected to be released.
