Mr Tomide Akinribido, a former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Akinribido, a deputy-minority leader in the 9th House of Assembly, officially defected to the APC on Monday.
The former congressman expressed satisfaction with his decision to join the ruling party and promised to work with his new party structure, leadership, stakeholders, and members.
“My decision to join the APC was borne out of my conviction that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has the required capacity and political will to steer the ship of the state perfectly and better the lots of people of the state” , he said in a statement.
Mr Ade Adetimehin, the APC’s Ondo State Chairman, stated in his remarks that many PDP chieftains would defect to the ruling party.
Adetimehin stated, “The defection of Akinribido is a dream come true; the former legislator possesses a high degree of knowledge and capacity that the APC would gain from. We’d like to welcome him to our celebration.
“As he arrives, I’d want to inform you that additional PDP leaders have expressed their willingness to join us in the APC, and you’ll meet them soon.
“We have a big umbrella to accommodate as many party faithful as possible.”
