Ondo State Police Command announced on Wednesday that a manhunt has been launched for Mrs. Tayelolu Solomon, who is suspected of killing her husband, Mr. Felix Solomon, in the state’s Ondo town.
Last Saturday, in the community’s Government Reserved Area, Tayelolu allegedly struck her 67-year-old husband with a pestle while he was asleep.
It was learned that the couple had been dealing with a persistent crisis before the occurrence.
Ibukun Solomon, the deceased’s son, who was present and saw the occurrence, said that his mother allegedly smacked his father in the head while he was asleep and fled, claiming the two had argued earlier.
“In my presence, my mother killed my father with a pestle and fled,” he narrated. While he was sleeping, she struck his skull with the pestle.
“Earlier that fateful day, they had gotten into a small quarrel that turned into a fight. After the argument, my mother struck my father in the head with the pestle while he was lying on the chair. In the process, he lost consciousness and dropped from his sleeping position. My mother struck my father’s skull three times with the pestle; he eventually passed away.
“My mother concealed the pestle at the back of our house and fled when she realized that my father was already asleep.
“I informed a few of the occupants, who hurriedly transported my father to the hospital. He did, however, pass away later. His remains have been placed at the morgue. I am the last of my mother’s three children for my father.
The state police command’s public relations officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, verified the occurrence and stated that the suspect would be arrested shortly. She claimed that the deceased was taken right away to the hospital, where he passed away.
“The event took place last week after a quarrel between the couple, but the suspect is still on the loose. We have already located her, according to the PPRO.
