On Monday, there was a palpable sense of panic in Iwerele, Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State, following a battle between the Oodua Peoples Congress, Amotekun, Operation Burst, Soludero, and a group of herdsmen.
As of the time of publication, the origin of the fight was still unclear. But a respected Chief in the neighborhood notified reporters of the altercation.
According to the source, a group of herders entered a property in the neighborhood with their cattle and allowed them to graze there, which caused an argument that resulted in the death of the farm’s owner.
Further information revealed that despite receiving orders to maintain calm in the region from Operation Burst, OPC, Amotekun, and Soludero security officers, they were allegedly ambushed by herders. The number of fatalities has not yet been determined.
Adewale Osifeso, the state police public relations officer, was not picking up calls or responding to texts sent to his mobile number as of the time of publication, making it impossible to get his comment.
