The Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ondo State, Peter Olagookun, has called for unity among opposition leaders to stand a chance against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in Akure, Olagookun said opposition leaders must set aside their personal ambitions to build a strong coalition. He suggested that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar should step down and support Rabiu Kwankwaso as the consensus candidate. He believes this move, along with picking a strong running mate from the South, could give the opposition a real shot at victory.
Olagookun warned that without unity, the opposition could fall apart before 2027. He praised Atiku for his efforts in bringing leaders together and said history would remember him if he sacrifices his ambition for the greater good.
