Former Governor of Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has alleged that individuals trying to sabotage the Dangote Refinery are based in Abuja. Reports indicate that the refinery is struggling to secure crude oil within Nigeria, forcing it to import from countries like the United States.
Speaking at the maiden edition of Prof Emeka Umerah’s public lecture in Abuja, themed ‘Nigeria Yesterday, Today, and a Prosperous Future,’ Oshiomhole criticized those who are importing low-quality diesel into the country while lamenting about fuel price hikes. He stressed that it should not be surprising that many of those undermining the country’s progress are Nigerians residing in the capital.
Oshiomhole highlighted that despite the Dangote Refinery’s capability to satisfy the Nigerian market and even reduce diesel prices, some Nigerians prioritize their interests by importing substandard diesel, which harms the environment and economy. He pointed out that these individuals are not scrutinized by the electorate and remain anonymous in public discourse, leaving the president unaware of their actions.
