Super Falcons players Asisat Oshoala and Chiamaka Nnadozie have earned spots among the final ten nominees for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award ahead of the 2023 CAF awards ceremony set to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 11. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the final list of nominees via its official X account on Monday.
Earlier, CAF had revealed the initial list of nominees, which included Nnadozie, Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Toni Payne, and Christy Ucheibe.
Asisat Oshoala, having secured the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award for the fifth time in 2022 by surpassing competition from Zambia’s Grace Chanda and Ajara Nchout Njoya of Cameroon, remains a strong contender for the prestigious accolade.
In addition to the individual recognition, Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has been nominated for the Coach of the Year award, while Deborah Abiodun and Esther Ajakaye are finalists for the Best Young Player of the Year category. The collective achievement of the Super Falcons team has also earned them a place as finalists for the Women’s National Team of the Year award.
The upcoming CAF awards ceremony promises to showcase the outstanding talent and contributions of African football players and coaches across various categories.
