Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has directed the lifting of the curfew imposed on Irepodun and Orolu Local Government Areas, effective Wednesday. The decision to lift the 24-hour curfew, imposed on October 6, was communicated in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi.
The curfew was instituted following violent clashes arising from a boundary disagreement in the affected areas, leading to loss of lives and property destruction. Governor Adeleke’s directive to lift the curfew comes after an assessment of the prevailing situation, with the government observing a return to peace and order in the affected communities.

The statement read, “Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has viewed with satisfaction the return of peace to Ifon and Ilobu communities in Irepodun local government area. To this end, the curfew earlier imposed by the Executive Governor of Osun state, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in his Executive capacity as the Chief Security Officer of the state is, hereby, lifted with immediate effect beginning from tomorrow, Wednesday, 20th of December, 2023.”
While acknowledging the apparent restoration of peace, the statement emphasized the need for strict 24-hour surveillance, urging the joint security task force in the two communities to maintain vigilance.
The government expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the restoration of peace and order, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in preventing future conflicts.
