Adijat, a housewife from Oke Akute Area in Iba, Osun State, who had been wounded by unidentified assailants, died on Thursday while receiving treatment for her gunshot wounds at an undisclosed hospital in Iree.
Iba-based sources claim that the woman was shot on Tuesday night at 10 o’clock when she was bathing at home.
Adijat, a Fulani by tribe, was rushed to a private hospital in Iree, where she had been admitted since Tuesday. She was nursing a three-month-old child at the time of her death.
He said, “The residents weren’t sure why they shot her. Around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, she was shot by unidentified assailants. When they attacked her, she was in the restroom.
She was taken by ambulance to a private hospital in Iree on Tuesday night, but she passed away early on Wednesday morning. At the crime scene, I observed police officers and members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps a day following the shooting. We are all frightened”.
When contacted, Kehinde Adeleke, the NSCDC’s Osun spokeswoman, stated that members of the command had attended the area and that additional security organizations had also been involved.
