The Osun State Government, in partnership with the Ministry of Special Duties and Regional Integration, will start distributing subsidised rice palliatives to residents of the state. The distribution is set to begin on Tuesday and will be carried out according to a timetable prepared by the palliative committee.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, announced that a total of 5,700 50kg bags of rice will be distributed. This includes 3,000 bags from the first batch of palliatives and 2,700 bags from the second batch. Additionally, the state has received two billion naira out of the five billion naira palliative fund allocated by the Federal Government.
Alimi emphasized that the distribution process will be orderly and the palliatives will reach the intended beneficiaries across the state. The initiative aims to provide relief to residents and support them during challenging times.
Palliatives like subsidised food distribution have been implemented by various governments around the world to assist citizens during periods of economic hardship, natural disasters, or emergencies.
