“Otti Orders Free Treatment for Okada Rider Struck by Government Van”

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has directed the Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, to ensure that a motorcycle rider, Orji Felix, who was injured by a government van, receives the best medical attention at no cost to him or his family. This directive comes after an accident involving the rider and a government van from the governor’s convoy.

The governor has also ordered the immediate suspension of the driver, Onyebuchi Steven, who was involved in the accident, pending an investigation to establish his culpability in the incident. The collision occurred in Ohafia Local Government, and both the motorcycle rider and his passenger were promptly rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

While the passenger sustained minor injuries and was treated and discharged at a local hospital in Ohafia, Orji Felix suffered multiple fractures on his left leg and right arm. He was attended to by Dr. Okoronkwo, who applied first aid and bandaged his injured leg and arm. Felix was subsequently transported to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, for further medical attention.

As of the latest report, Felix is recuperating at the hospital, with nurses describing his condition as “very stable.” The commissioner for health has been monitoring the patient’s progress and thanked the nurses for their care. Dr. Okoronkwo emphasized the governor’s directive to ensure that the patient receives proper medical attention.

The Abia State government’s swift response and commitment to covering the medical expenses of the injured motorcycle rider reflect the importance placed on the well-being of citizens and accountability in incidents involving government vehicles.
