The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has emphasized that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State is taking measures to purify itself by expelling and suspending certain members who engaged in anti-party activities.
The APC in Osun State recently expelled former factional chairman Rasaq Salinsile and 83 others who belonged to the Omoluabi Caucus led by former governor Rauf Aregbesola. Additionally, they suspended former secretary to the state government, Moshood Adeoti, and 25 others for similar reasons.
Speaking at a mini reception organized in his honor by the party’s leadership in Osun, Minister Oyetola explained his endorsement of the expulsion and suspension of these members. He stressed that the party is committed to removing individuals who undermine its unity and effectiveness, while simultaneously fostering genuine reconciliation among loyal members.
Oyetola expressed gratitude for the recent affirmation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal and underscored the need for unity and solidarity within the APC. He called on loyal party members to remain steadfast and focus on building, rather than destroying, the party.
He also assured that the recommendations of the Prof Isaac Adewole committee, responsible for repositioning the party, would be implemented to enhance the APC’s standing in Osun State. The committee’s report highlighted various factors, such as a disconnect between the party and government, poor leadership, irregular payment of salaries and pensions, a flawed reward system, and imposition by party leaders, as contributors to the party’s previous difficulties in the state.
