“Oyo Government Declares Monday Public Holiday for Isese Day”

In a vibrant cultural gesture, the Oyo State Government has proclaimed Monday as a special public holiday to honor Isese Day, a revered annual celebration among traditionalists throughout the state.

In an official circular titled “Declaration of holiday to mark traditional religious festivity in Oyo State,” signed by Professor Olanike Adeyemo, the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, the announcement underlines the significance of this occasion. The circular, issued on Friday, unveils that Governor Seyi Makinde has graciously designated August 20 of each year as “Isese Day” in Oyo State, in honor of the Traditional Religious festivity.

With a commitment to this commemoration, the first-ever Public Holiday has been set for Monday, August 21, 2023, to celebrate this year’s festivity across the state.

Governor Makinde’s directive is rooted in fostering peace, unity, and stability within the state and the entire nation. He calls upon traditional worshippers to seize this occasion as an opportunity to offer prayers for the well-being of Oyo State and the broader country.

The declaration follows the resolution of the Oyo State House of Assembly, which had designated August 20 as the official date for the celebration of Isese Day.

In this celebratory moment, Oyo State shines a light on its rich cultural heritage while also emphasizing the values of harmony and unity that are essential for progress.
