Former Anambra governorship candidate, Valentine Ozigbo, has stated that Peter Obi will likely not contest the 2027 presidential election under the Labour Party (LP). Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ozigbo expressed doubts about LP’s future, asserting that if Obi decides to run, he will do so on a different platform.
Ozigbo, who recently moved from LP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), defended his decision, arguing that political alignments should be based on principle and process, not sentiment. He emphasized that he had supported Obi in 2023 but does not see a sustainable future for LP.
While not speaking on behalf of Peter Obi, Ozigbo hinted at ongoing discussions about political coalitions, reinforcing his belief that Obi’s next political move will be outside LP. His comments have fueled speculations about potential realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, as politicians weigh their chances in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
