The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Pastor Clinton John of the Mega World Healing Ministry in Giwa Agbado, Ifo Local Government Area. The 43-year-old man of God is accused of repeatedly defiling a 16-year-old girl since November 2022, when she was just 14 years old.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, the victim revealed that Pastor John had threatened to kill her if she disclosed the illicit relationship. The family of the victim grew suspicious after their daughter experienced recurring infections, leading them to report the matter to the police.
In a statement released on Saturday night, SP Odutola said, “The parents persuaded their daughter who later confessed that one Pastor Clinton John, aged 43 years old of Mega World Healing Ministry, has been fiercely having unlawful carnal knowledge of her since November of 2022.”
The victim disclosed the threats made by the pastor, prompting the family to report the incident to the Agbado divisional Police Station. Upon interrogation, Pastor Clinton John confessed to the crime, acknowledging that he had engaged in unlawful activities with the 16-year-old.
The victim has been issued medical forms for treatment and examination, while the suspect, Pastor Clinton Oscar, is set to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department Eleweran for discreet investigation.
This arrest follows other recent cases of sexual assault in Ogun State, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and swift action against perpetrators. In a separate incident, a 26-year-old man, Monday Agbowade, is accused of defiling an 11-year-old girl in Araromi Village, Idi-Oke area. The police continue to investigate and pursue justice in these disturbing cases of abuse against minors.
