Umar Damagum, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed confidence in the party’s readiness to clinch victory in the upcoming Ondo state governorship election slated for November.
Speaking at a stakeholder meeting before the presentation of the Certificate of Return to the PDP candidate, Alfred Agboola Ajayi, at the party headquarters in Abuja, Damagum rallied support for Ajayi and urged him to unite with other aspirants to secure the party’s triumph.
Taking a jab at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for its tumultuous primary process, Damagum emphasized the cohesion within the PDP ranks, highlighting the seamless selection of Ajayi as the consensus candidate.
“We in the opposition, much was expected of us, and we shamed them,” Damagum asserted. “It’s because of what we have put in place that this has been possible.”
He underscored the significance of unity among aspirants and urged Ajayi to intensify efforts in garnering support from all quarters to ensure victory for the PDP in Ondo State.
Acknowledging the challenges ahead, Damagum emphasized the need for rigorous grassroots campaigning and engagement to secure the desired outcome.
As the PDP gears up for the electoral battle, Damagum reassured stakeholders of the party’s commitment to internal democracy and inclusive decision-making processes, affirming the PDP’s enduring status as a formidable political brand.
With optimism and determination, the PDP stands poised to contest the Ondo state governorship election with unity and vigor, aiming to reclaim the state under its banner.
