PDP chairman in Kogi suspended over alleged fraud

Ibrahim Huseini, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, has been suspended indefinitely.

Prior to his extended suspension, Huseini was accused of embezzling N19 million from the party’s account and making threats against members. He was also accused of anti-party conduct during the previous gubernatorial race in November 2023.

Huseini’s suspension was announced in a letter dated January 21, 2024, after PDP leaders in Dekina LGA voted no confidence in the beleaguered chairman.

The PDP Local Government Working Committee in Dekina accused the embattled chairman of violating established party rules and institutions.

The letter read: “We, the Local Government and Ward Executives of Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State, suspended you as Party Divisional Chairman on January 15, 2024, following a vote of no confidence by the majority executive at both the local and ward levels.”

“This decision is the result of your mishandling of party funds, open threats to executive members, and involvement in anti-party activities, which were notably visible during the state’s most recent presidential and governorship elections.

“You are hereby required to deliver all party materials in your possession to the party’s divisional secretary. Your actions have hampered the party’s success by failing to follow the provisions of the party constitution.

Secretary Ademu Yusuf, Assistant Secretary Attai Joseph, Legal Adviser Jacob Atadoga, Auditor John Bala Amedu, Financial Secretary Usman Enema, Treasurer Salisu Shehu, Youth Leader Ayuba Amedu, and Ex-Official Danjuma Muhammed are among those who signed the no-confidence vote at the local and ward levels.

Others include Women’s Leader Alima Abuh and Vice Chairman Salami Muhammed Omede.
