Troops from the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadarin (OPHD), have detained three alleged gun traffickers in ZamfaraFans Demand BBMzansi Disqualification Over Misconduct State.
According to reports, one of the accused, Aminu Ibrahim, is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward chairman in Birnin Yero ward in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of the State.
According to a military intelligence source in the state, Ibrahim and his collaborators, Musa Usman Seun and Isah Mohammed, were captured on Monday.
The source continued, “The troops of the Joint Task Force North West Operation Haderin Daji acted on credible intelligence on the activities of a notorious gunrunner attempting to smuggle weaponry into the state.
This media also learned that the army quickly set up a roadblock, arresting the three alleged gunrunners.
“The three suspects, Musa Usman Seun, Aminu Ibrahim, and Isah Mohammed, were captured in Shinkafi on January 22, 2024, and a total of two million five hundred and eighty thousand Naira, one Volkswagen Wagon, three mobile phones, and other goods were recovered from them.
“A preliminary investigation found that the large sum of money confiscated from the suspects was used for the exchange of various weapons at the Illela border in Sokoto State. The accused are being further interrogated.”
