Youth leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State have condemned the continued stay of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu outside the state. The governor recently returned from a medical vacation in Germany and has been staying at his personal residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, which has raised concerns.
The PDP youth leaders had given the governor a 3-day ultimatum to return to the state, which has now expired. They have threatened to take legal action against the governor if he refuses to return. They’ve also called on the state House of Assembly to invoke Section 189(4) of the Nigerian Constitution, which deals with the absence of a governor from the state.
In response, the youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-West zone condemned the PDP’s call for the governor’s resignation or impeachment. They described the PDP as a confused and dying party in the state and expressed support for Governor Akeredolu’s need for rest and recovery.
This situation highlights political tensions and power struggles in Ondo State, with the PDP seeking to capitalize on the governor’s absence for political gain, while the APC defends the governor’s actions.
