Peace mass transit passengers kidnapped in Kogi Rescued by police

The Kogi state police command verified on Saturday that all of the passengers of the Peace Mass transit, who were abducted while traveling through the state on Wednesday, had been rescued.
The passengers, who were traveling from Abuja to Enugu, were claimed to have been kidnapped at gunpoint near Ogugu in the state’s Olamaboro local government area and taken into the forest.
A middle-aged nursing woman and her sucking infant were allegedly left behind, while the other 24 passengers, including the driver, were hustled away.

The footage of the heinous incident involving the white Peace Mass Transit bus has been spreading on social media since Thursday.

Willy Aya, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident on Saturday, saying that as soon as the incident occurred, the Divisional Police Officer of Olamaboro local government area swung into action, first taking custody of the stranded mother and child before combing the forest for the victims.

He stated that their efforts were rewarded on Friday evening when all of the victims were rescued from the dense woodland without paying any ransom.

The police spoke man said this was achieved through the combined efforts of the police and other security agencies including the local hunters and and members of the Vigilante group.
He said although, no arrest has so far been made, but he promised that will be brought to book as the police are still trailing them
While saying the released victims have since reunited with their families, he assured commuters and residents in the state of their protection and that of their properties at all times
