Pep Guardiola has committed to Manchester City by signing a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club till 2027.
The Catalan coach, whose previous deal was set to expire next summer, will extend his tenure at the Etihad Stadium to 11 seasons, citing that City provides him ‘everything’ he could desire in a football club.
Already the longest serving manager in the Premier League and the most successful in City’s history, Guardiola has chosen to stay despite the upcoming departure of director Txiki Begiristain and the looming Premier League investigation into 130 alleged rule breaches by the club.
Having already claimed 18 trophies with Manchester City, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss aims to further his legacy.
“Manchester City means so much to me. This is my ninth season here; we have experienced so many amazing times together. I have a really special feeling for this football club. That is why I am so happy to be staying for another two more seasons.” Guardiola said.
“Thank you to everyone for continuing to trust and support me – everyone connected to Manchester City. It has always been an honour, a pleasure and a privilege to be here. I have said this many times before, but I have everything a manager could ever wish for, and I appreciate that so much. Hopefully now we can add more trophies to the ones we have already won. That will be my focus.”
Since joining City in 2016, Guardiola has guided the team to six Premier League titles, making history as the first manager to win four consecutive English top-flight championships.His accolades also include two FA Cups, a record-equalling four League Cups, and City‘s first ever Chamions League title.
Under Guardiola’s leadership, City achieved a Treble in 2023, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League, and a domestic Treble in 2019. In 2018, they became the first English team to reach 100 points in the league season.

This renewal will take Pep beyond a decade of coaching Manchester City and the opportunity to continue to rewrite the managerial record books.”
With this extension, Guardiola is poised to build on his remarkable leagacy and further shape the future of Manchester City.
