Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, recently took to Twitter to express his concerns about the escalating insecurity and violent attacks in the North Central states of Benue and Plateau. His tweet sparked controversy and garnered attention online.
Obi expressed his deep worry about the alarming number of innocent lives lost due to the ongoing insecurity in the North Central and Zamfara states. He finds it unacceptable that countless innocent Nigerians are losing their lives as a result of banditry and kidnappings.
In his tweet, Obi called on the security agencies to take immediate action to address the situation. He emphasized the need for critical stakeholders, including traditional, Christian, and Muslim leaders, to play an active role in promoting peace among their respective communities. He urged them to lead by example in their conduct and interactions, fostering an environment of harmony and unity.
Obi’s aim in sharing this statement was to highlight the importance of responsible leadership and collaboration in addressing the prevailing security challenges. He believes that by working together, stakeholders can contribute to creating a more peaceful and secure Nigeria.
He wrote: “Therefore, I will like to urge critical stakeholders in these areas, traditional, Christians, and Muslims leaders to continue pushing for peace among their people in the way and manner they conduct themselves”.
