Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed his commitment to ensuring Nigeria works for its citizens, despite facing challenges as an opposition politician. Speaking at a press conference, Obi criticized the attitudes of some politicians toward him, noting that he often faces resistance from those in the ruling class.
Obi emphasized the need to focus on empowering citizens rather than increasing taxes in an unproductive economy. He highlighted the struggles of Nigerians, including widespread poverty, unemployment, and poor business conditions, stressing that taxation should follow productivity. According to Obi, the government must prioritize making the country productive and addressing issues such as food insecurity and the growing number of out-of-school children.
Calling for unity, Obi urged all Nigerians to work together to save the country from further collapse. He warned of the consequences of inaction, pointing to daily indicators of distress across the nation and urging leaders to focus on sustainable solutions for the future.
