In a statement issued on Friday by the Head of the Obi-Datti Media office, Diran Onifade in Abuja, the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, urged those he called “agents of retrogression” to refrain from actions that might disrupt the impartiality of the judiciary in handling ongoing cases.
Obi expressed concern over attempts to distract and divert the nation’s Judiciary from its crucial national tasks. He mentioned recent occurrences, including threats of anarchy if the ruling party’s candidate is legally removed by the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), the alleged telephone conversation involving the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) which the Supreme Court denied, and a fake news claim about a panelist resigning during the ongoing PEPC hearing.
The statement emphasized the need for the judiciary to stay focused on its critical national assignment without unnecessary distractions. Obi-Datti Media office called on patriots to support the delivery of justice and warned against attempts to smear or entrap Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed.
The statement also highlighted the concern over fake and dubious campaigns aimed at discrediting the candidates, and it called on Nigerians not to fall for such partisan ploys. Additionally, they urged security agencies to ensure the safety of their Principals as they carry out their public and private endeavors.
In conclusion, Obi-Datti Media office reiterated its appeal for everyone to avoid hindering the delivery of justice and refrain from any activities that could escalate tensions in the nation.
