In a heartfelt visit, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections, offered his condolences to the family of the late Nollywood actor, John Paul Obumneme Odonwodo, widely known as Junior Pope. The former Governor of Anambra State was accompanied by Kenneth Okonkwo, a renowned Nollywood actor and politician.

During the visit, Peter Obi signed the condolence register and spent time consoling Junior Pope’s grieving family. Kenneth Okonkwo shared photos and a video clip of the visit on his X handle, expressing the somber mood of the occasion. He noted, “HE Peter Obi arrived at the residence of John Paul Odonwodo Junior Pope, to pay his condolences to his family over the sad, and untimely departure of their child, brother, husband, and father. He consoled his mother, Mrs. Maria Odonwodo, the widow, Jennifer, and his children.”
Junior Pope tragically passed away on April 10, 2024, after a boat capsized on the Anam River in Anambra State, claiming the lives of three others as well. The beloved actor was laid to rest in his hometown, Ukehe in Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State.
