Former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has officially joined TikTok. Announcing his arrival on his X page, he urged Nigerians to follow him as he continues his push for a “New Nigeria that is POssible.”
Obi’s move shows how politicians are embracing social media to reach more people, especially young Nigerians. TikTok has become a powerful platform for engagement, and his presence there signals a fresh way to interact with the public.
Interestingly, this comes shortly after former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai also joined TikTok, gaining over 200,000 followers in just 24 hours. With more leaders turning to social media, the political conversation is shifting to where the people are.
