Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged the President Bola Tinubu-led government to prioritize creating an environment conducive to business growth, rather than relying on frequent foreign trips. Obi pointed out that despite the president’s travels to countries like the UAE, China, and Brazil, there has been no noticeable increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for Nigeria.
In a statement on Monday, Obi compared the U.S. investment success to Nigeria’s situation, emphasizing that investments flow naturally to regions with favorable environments, without the need for extensive foreign travel. He also highlighted the success stories of countries like Indonesia, Vietnam, and India, which have focused on critical sectors like healthcare, education, and security to attract investments. Obi urged Nigeria to learn from these nations’ strategies and replicate them to unlock its full economic potential.
