ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has apprehended and subsequently charged 14 men to court for making false claims that innocent residents caused their genitals to disappear, leading to a series of mob actions against more than 10 accused individuals in Nigeria’s capital city over the past few weeks.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, revealed these developments during a press briefing held at the command headquarters to highlight the police’s recent successes in crime prevention throughout the FCT.
Garba explained that the command had received reports of over 10 cases, primarily in the Garshi, Gwagwalada, and Kwali areas of the FCT, some of which escalated into violent mob actions by local youths.
However, the police commissioner clarified that no lives were lost in these reported incidents. He disclosed that when the individuals making the false allegations were taken to the hospital for evaluation, medical experts conducted tests, which confirmed that their male organs were entirely intact and fully functional.
CP Garba stated, “The FCT Police Command has recorded over 10 cases of alleged disappearance of male organs across the territory and the escalating incidents of mob action by irate youths. It took the intervention of the Police Command to prevent the loss of lives and property and restore law and order.”
He continued, “Fourteen suspects who claimed that their male organs had disappeared were taken to the hospital, where the medical doctor confirmed that their organs were intact and active. Consequently, they were charged to court for giving false information and inciting public disturbance.”
CP Garba used the opportunity to appeal to the FCT residents to caution their children against raising false alarms and to discourage them from resorting to vigilante justice or mob action, as such actions could result in the loss of innocent lives.
