A middle-aged man has been taken into custody by the Bayelsa State Police Command on suspicion of beheading his girlfriend.
Early on Saturday morning, something happened in the state’s Sagbama Local Government Area.
According to reports, the culprit, identified as Tony, decapitated his lover, Ebibraaladei Maxwell.
The culprit was ready to leave the crime scene when neighbors restrained him and gave him up to the police, according to Command Spokesman Musa Mohammed.
The victim and the suspect are not married, but they have been living together, according to the police.
Mohammed continued by saying that the victim’s remains had been taken out by Command personnel and placed in the Federal Medical Center’s (FMC) morgue in Yenagoa.
After receiving the report, the Sagbama Divisional Police Officer sent officers to the crime scene, where they discovered that the suspect had been captured by young people from the community.
The police spokesperson stated, “The deceased’s remains have been evacuated to the mortuary at Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa, while the suspect is being interrogated and will soon be charged to court.”
