The police officer who killed engineer and father of three, Alafuro Peterside will soon be charged in court, according to Rivers State Commissioner of Police Emeka Nwonyi.
Recall that on August 14, 2023, Peterside was allegedly shot dead in Gombe State at a well-known bar on Stadium Road in Port Harcourt by a member of the Police Mobile Force, 43 Squadron.
But Nwonyi said, in response to inquiries from our journalist, that the policeman—whose identity was withheld—had been fired and the case had been brought before a judge.
In the meantime, several state residents have urged the police commissioner to identify and display a photo of the fired police officer who committed the alleged offense.
On Wednesday, the locals spoke on Nigeria Info FM, Port Harcourt, a well-known radio station in the state.
In order to foster confidence between the Police Force and the communities they serve, they explained, it is important to ensure transparency and accountability on such matters.
