Three members of the Indigenous People of Biafra’s Eastern Security Network were intending to implement the state’s illegitimate sit-at-home order when they were assassinated, according to the Enugu State Police Command on Monday.
In the course of the operation, which took place in the early hours of Monday, security personnel also found three weapons and cutlasses during firing between police special squad members and Nigerian army soldiers.

The Enugu State Command’s spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, released the following statement: “At around 2.15 a.m. on September 18, 2023, a joint security team, comprising Troops of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army Enugu, NPF Special Forces, and Police Operatives of the Enugu State Command, acting on credible intelligence, busted the criminal hideout of IPOB/ESN subversive criminal elements in Ezioha Mgbow
“Three (3) of the hoodlums were neutralized in the ensuing gunfight, while numerous others managed to flee with serious bullet wounds. Three (3) of the hoodlums had opened fire on the combined team when they first saw them.
Ten (10) machetes, three (3) pump-action firearms, and other incriminating items were found, and a vigorous manhunt is still going on for the fugitives.

However, the spokesman cited CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, the state’s commissioner of police, as commending the collaborative team and assuring people’ protection and safety as they conduct their lawful business in the State.
He clarified that the commissioner has reaffirmed the police’s and other security services’ sworn resolve to continue the assault against violent criminals who operate under whatever pretext.
