The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended five individuals at a cult initiation site in the state, while also successfully rescuing a victim in the process. The operation was carried out by officers from the Tolu Division.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the arrest took place on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at approximately 2am. The police received a distress call regarding a forceful initiation ceremony taking place at a hotel in the Ajegunle area of the state.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Odumola (19), Benjamin (20), Emmanuel (19), Richards (18), and Nasiru (20). Investigations are currently underway, and once concluded, the suspects will be brought before the court.
Mr. Idowu Owohunwa, the Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command, has urged Lagosians to promptly report any suspicious activities in their localities. This cooperation will assist the police in their efforts to combat crime and maintain peace within the state.
