Police officer dismissed for raping a 16-year-old girl inside the police station

A police officer named Belasa Iyangedue was fired by the Benue State Police Command for raping a 16-year-old who was being held in custody.

According to information obtained, the victim was held for libel.
The policeman who appeared to be helping her reportedly walked inside the female cell and took her into an office where he had sex with her without her will while she was being held at the Divisional Police headquarters in Tse Agbaragba in the state’s Konshisha Local Government Area.

According to reports, the minor reported the incident to the divisional police officer, which resulted in the constable’s detention and the referral of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Makurdi.
He is already facing charges at the Makurdi Magistrates’ Court.
Bartholomew Onyeka, the state’s commissioner of police, informed the media of his dismissal on Tuesday in Makurdi.
The crime was committed at Tse Agbaragba Divisional Police Station in Konshisha LGA, according to Onyeka.

“The police are a disciplined organization, and as the statutory body in charge of managing the criminal justice system and combating crime, such individuals are not permitted to remain in the system.

“He is being prosecuted in addition to being fired.”
